Welcome to the Hemphill Garden Club and the opportunity to participate in gardening, floral design, landscape design, study of horticulture and other subjects related to conservation and civic beauty.

We are a federated member of Texas Garden Clubs, Inc., a member of South Central Region of Garden Clubs (Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Arkansas) and National Garden Clubs Inc., which prides itself as the largest organization of its kind in the world. Our tenants include preservation, conservation and beautification with an emphasis on community service. The Garden Center is owned and operated by our club and is located on over an acre of land bordered by a creek. All projects, upkeep and services come from our annual dues plus the money generated by other fund raisers.

All members serve on one or more committees, are assigned a once a year duty as hostess for the covered dish luncheon enjoyed at the end of our meetings on the third Friday of months September through May (our garden club year). We hold no formal meetings during June, July and August. Officers of the club are selected for a two-year term and members abide by the Constitution and By-Laws of the club. Each member participates in the activities of the club to their own abilities.

At each monthly meeting we have a business session conducted by the club president, committee reports, birthday plant drawing, passing of the "maintenance jar," discussion of coming events and a program presented by a guest speaker or club member. We then enjoy a covered dish luncheon and fellowship with our members.
